Obituary

Kenneth Wayne Donaldson, known by most as “Kenney”, “Ken-Do”, or “KD” was born on July 5,1964 in Summit, NJ to Darvin and Gertrude Donaldson. Reared in Scotch Plains, NJ, he attended all public schools there, graduating from Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School in 1984.
While there, Kenney was a member of the HS football team and everyone knew who he was. A popular local DJ in the 1980s with a group of friends from town, Kenney was known for being fiercely protective of his family, had a heart of gold, and never complained about anything.
Kenney joined Fountain Baptist Church in February 1996 and remained active there until he moved to Bethlehem, PA. It was there that he met his devoted fiancée, Laura Crespo, with whom he made a home for 14 wonderful years.
Kenney was a talented Journeyman Carpenter and was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners, Local #167 for over 30 years. He was a described as a thorough and conscientious carpenter who was dedicated to his craft and took a lot of pride in work. Everyone who knew Kenney could not forget how much he loved candy. He was like a kid…he had it everywhere! He was an avid fisher and loved to spend his time trying to make a good catch. Kenney was a huge Miami Dolphins fan and engaged in friendly banter with family and friends who liked other teams. He was also known for spending spare dollars on pick-its and
scratch-offs. While these things certainly brought Kenney joy, the thing he loved most was spending time with his grandchildren. They were simply described as “his heart”: grandsons James, Madex, Cyprian Jr., Jeremiah, Ethan, Aidan, Mason, Nash; and granddaughters Ivy Lynn, Divine, and Allya.
On January 10, 2019, the Lord called Kenney home. He was a part of a very close-knit family who loved him dearly. Predeceased by his doting grandparents Leo and Earnestine Donaldson of Statesboro, GA and Frank and Louvenia Horn of Summit, NJ, Kenney is survived by his parents Darvin and Gertrude Donaldson; his fiancée Laura Crespo; three sons Andre Irvin, Raymond Crespo and Lucas Crespo; two daughters Maelynn Walters (Cyprian) and Jesenia Crespo; his grandchildren named above; two brothers Michael A. Horn (Raquel) and Frederick L. Horn; two sisters Annie B. Horn and Darlene D. Hatcher (Rickie); his godson and nephew Marcus D. Donaldson; six additional nephews Steven Horn (Candace), Jerod M. Hatcher, Jaleel M. Hatcher, Frederick Horn (Jessica), Daniel A. Horn, and Michael I. Horn; and two nieces Amandalee P. Marrow (David) and Mikaela Y. Horn. Kenney shared a special relationship with cousins Melvin Jones and Terrence Jones and was adored by his loving Godmother and aunt, Hattie
James. He also leaves to mourn a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, grandnephews and grandnieces, and friends.
