Obituary

Cynthia Meleta Searchwell was born on August 14, 1941 in St. Mary, Jamaica to the late Edgar and Vida May Dallas . She attended primary and high school in St. Mary, Jamaica.
Cynthia migrated to the United States in 1970 and resided in New York with her Mother and Aunt. She was later joined by her two sons: Conroy and Delgado. She moved to Plainfield, New Jersey where she obtained a job as a cashier at Muhlenberg Hospital in Plainfield, NJ. She worked there for over thirty years. She was a dedicated worker who loved her job, the people that she worked with, and they loved her. After retiring from Muhlenberg, she worked at Enzon Lab for several years as a Lab Technician.
Cynthia was united in holy matrimony to Roy Searchwell, on December 12, 1973 and for 25 years they faithfully lived and work together for their families. She was proud of her husband who worked for Sears as a Mechanic. She shared the story of Roy telling her to make sure she “never runs out of gas.” Roy preceded her in death in 1998.
Though she was an ardent Methodist, Cynthia loved to visit other churches. Just give her the invite and she would be there. Her friend, Navleth Evans encouraged her to get baptized, and she was baptized and taken into Fellowship at New Lite Missionary Baptist Church. There she served as a Deaconess and church Mother. Her Pastor was like a son to her. Cynthia strongly believed that prayer changes things and would always be on a Prayer line, waking early in the morning for prayer.
Cynthia was very kind and friendly. She opened her heart and her home to many through cooking her favorite dishes. She was always concerned about her patients assigned to her by her employer, Priemer Heath Care. She was very dedicated to them and went above and beyond to make sure they were happy.
On December 20, 2018, Cynthia departed this life. She was preceded in death by her husband Roy; Brothers: Lester Commock, Canute Dallas, Dervent Dallas, and Henry Dallas. She leaves to cherish her memory her two Sons: Conroy (Dawn); Delgado (Donna); Daughter: Georgia Searchwell; Grandchildren: Akiel, Emerson, and Anthony; Great grandson: Hunter; Brother: Arthur Dallas; Sisters: Ferron Allen and Gloria Dallas.; nephews, nieces, cousins, and a host of relatives and friends to mourn her loss. Even though her Master called her and she had to answer His call, she will live on in our hearts forever as we remember her with joy as well as sadness.
We are comforted in knowing that she is at rest with the Lord.
