Dorothy Mae Douglas, "Dot"
made her peaceful transition to be with the Lord on September 18, 2018 after a long illness at White House Nursing Home, Orange, NJ. Dorothy affectionately known as Dot, was born on September 17, 1928 in Greer, South Carolina to the late David and Rhoda Burton. The family would later relocate to NJ when Dorothy was a young child Dorothy attended Public School in Orange NJ. She would later graduate from Phillips Business School, East Orange NJ where she earned a certification in Administrative Services. Dorothy was employed by Knight Craft, Orange, NJ as a presser. She was an avid reader and she also enjoyed singing. She especially enjoyed cooking and hosting holiday meals for her family.
Prior to her illness Dorothy was an active member of Liberty Temple Church, Orange NJ. Following her residency at White House Nursing Home, Dorothy was under the spiritual leadership of Ministers Charles and Allie Wallace of Harvestor Of Souls Ministry, East Orange, NJ.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents David and Rhoda Burton, her brother David Burton Jr., son Robert Douglas, daughter DeLoy Douglas, and grandson, Robert DeShaun Peace.
Dorothy leaves to cherish her memory beloved eldest son; Walter (Brenda) Douglas, Sr., grandchildren; David Douglas, Darrin (Shawn) Douglas, Dawn (Berry) Blaylock,
Walter (Diarra) Douglas, Jr., JaNeen Vinson, Michael Douglas, great grandchildren; Dewunn Douglas, Shadari Douglas, Noah Douglas, Noelle Douglas, great-great-granddaughter Destiny Wilson and special family and friends; Elva Morrison, Sharon HIll, Jackie Peace, Gail Kelly, Vivian Douglas, Dorothy Saunders, Charles (Allie) Wallace, William (Jean) Wallace, Barbara (Tom) McGrath.
