Royetta Bass departed this life on November 4, 2019. She was born at John F. Kennedy Hospital in Edison, NJ on June 24,1968 to the late Roy and Rebecca (Ree) Bass. She was the sixth of seven children. She attended JP Stevens High School where she excelled in track and was sought after by other high schools while still in middle school. Royetta loved fashion, doing hair, writing poetry and quoting scriptures from the Bible. Royetta was employed by Mr. Pudgys (Edison) and Stop and Shop (Watchung).

Royetta was baptized at Miracle Temple Natural Holiness Church of Newark, New Jersey by her uncle the late Bishop Caldwell Thomas. She enjoyed spending time with her family and closest friends—Royetta was everyone’s favorite. She was full of life and always did things her way--she was a fighter in every aspect of the word. Royetta left a lasting impression on the many lives she touched with her sense of humor, candidness and quick wit. Rihanna enjoyed a good movie and talked all the way through it and if she saw it already, you could forget it.

Royetta had a special bond with her youngest sister Keisha who she affectionately called little big sister In her own words, Royetta knew Keisha had wisdom and knowledge that navigated them through the hardest of times and she knew she would protect her. Proverbs 17:17 says “a friend is always loyal, and a sister is born to help in time of need”--loves through all kinds of weather and family’s stick together through all kinds of trouble.

Royetta was predeceased by her sisters Joanne and Eleanor “Ellie” Bass and one brother-in-law Larry Devaughn who nicknamed her “Ro Doggy”.

Royetta’s memory will be cherished by her one and only daughter Moniqah Bass and grandson Aarao Ansah of Lawrenceville, Ga. One brother Rodney Thomas (Cynthia) of York, Pa. Three sisters Dreama Bass-Devaughn, Keisha Bass of Plainfield, NJ, and Cynthia Bass (Mark Sr.) of Charlotte, NC.
