Robert Major Fleming, 66 of Plainfield, NJ transitioned this life on February 12, 2020.
Robert Major Fleming was born the son of the late Sam and
Rosetta Fleming on April 11, 1953 in Henderson, NC.
“Major” to his family and friends, was raised in New Jersey and early on developed a love for auto mechanics and fast cars.
He became a skilled mechanic and avid race car drag racer. You could often find him competing on Sundays at Raceway Park in Englishtown, NJ. He would later go on to own his own auto repair shop in Plainfield for a short time. He was also employed by the Veterans Administration in Lyons, NJ for many years.
Major was also a proud member of the U.S. Air Force, where as an Airmen and master mechanic, he utilized his skills to service fighter jets.
Major's knack for repairing or building things earned him the distinction as a "Renaissance Man". Given the tools and time, he could fix or build just about anything.
After his time in the Air Force, Major married Ms. Jeanette Thomas, whom he has been long since estranged. Robert lovedchildren, and claimed many children he didn't father simply because he loved them. He also considered himself a grill master and enjoyed family barbecues where he'd often take charge of the grill.

He is survived by his sister Shirley Phillips (Wendell), and brothers Lawerence Fleming (Carol), Stanley Fleming (Fannie), Broderick
Fleming (Gloria), and Aubrey Fleming (Vera). His elders, Reverend Mary Reavis and Uncle Robert Reavis (Bernice).
