Obituary

He was born on June 21, 1933 in Elizabeth, New Jersey. He lived most of his life in Vauxhall, New Jersey. He was educated in the Union public school system where he graduated from Union High School in June of 1951. From 1961 to 1964 Reverend Alston attended Northeastern Bible College in Essex Fells, New Jersey. He earned his degree in Biblical Studies and continued his education with courses from Trinity Bible College in Indiana through home study.

Reverend Alston was employed with Alfred and Williams, Springs for Machinery. He was a machinist and retired after more than thirty-five years.

Reverend Alston was quiet in character. He loved his family and rich memories have been created. He enjoyed sports, enjoyed gardening and could give you a lesson on planting flowers and shrubs. He loved the music of Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir.

Reverend Alston was united in marriage to the late Oneida George Alston for forty years. From this union they were blessed with three children, Clarence Jr, David and Donna. Oneida affectionately called “Neet” was called to life eternal on March 15, 1995. On August 17,1997 Reverend Alston was united in marriage to Patricia Cody and they made their home in Maplewood, New Jersey.

Reverend Alston accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior in
April of 1957. He heard the voice of His Lord and began to understand that He had a purpose and a plan for his life. He accepted the call to ministry in 1960 and preached his first sermon September 19,1960. He was licensed to preach by his home church, The First Baptist Church of Vauxhall, New Jersey under the leadership of the late Elmer L. Williams. He was ordained on November 4, 1964 having been duly recommended for ordination by a Council of Baptist Churches of the Middlesex Central Baptist Association. This Council convened at the call of the First Baptist Church of Vauxhall.

Reverend Clarence Alston was called to pastor the Antioch Baptist Church in October of 1964. He loved the ministry and the people of Antioch. For more than 50 years this anointed man of Godohn; 5 grandchildren, Kimberly, Brian, Kyle, Jamal and Jameesha, and great grandson, Jeffrey; He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Sr. and Mary,
 3 sisters, Marie, Lorraine and Doris, 3 brothers, Joseph, Robert and Edward.  His spirit and warm memories will be cherished by his wife Patricia Cody Alston, 3 children, Clarence (Keiko) of Misawa, Japan, David of Union and Donna from Union, brother JReverend Clarence E. Alston, son of the late Edward Sr and Mary Alston , and a host of loving relatives and friends
