Obituary

MH Cartledge was born on March 20, 1924; the son of
Carrie Martin Cartledge and Charlie Cartledge of Umatilla,
Florida. MH Cartledge has made his transition peacefully to
his heavenly home on January 30, 2018.
MH loved sports; his favorite sport was baseball. He played
several years in the Negro Baseball League as a pitcher.
He was the first pitcher to beat Satchel Paige in an 11th inning
shoot out. He also played with the Umatilla Dodgers. MH was
well known for his long pitching stride.
MH Cartledge served in the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1946,
during World War II as a Cook.
He is predeceased by his sisters Betty Samuels, Fannie Lou
Sinclair, Minnie Sue Andrews, Lorraine Carter, Marie Baker
and one brother Calvin Cartledge. He leaves behind 2 sisters;
Mary Donaldson of Umatilla, FL and Susan Baker
(Haywood) of Somerset, NJ; 3 brothers: Leroy Cartledge,
Damon Cartledge, & Charles Lewis Cartledge., NJ. He also
leaves a host of family members, nieces, nephews, cousins and
friends.
