Leon David Solomon (Junior) was called home to God on Wednesday, May 29,
2019, with his family at his bedside in Scotch Plains, NJ.
Leon was born in Bonneau, South Carolina on July 19, 1934 to Leon and Elvira Moultrie Solomon. Leon is the 2nd of 4 children born to this union.
Mr. Solomon attended the Bonneau school system and graduated from Bonneau High School in Bonneau, S.C. He joined the United Stated Army where he served
his Country for 2 years before he was honorably discharged.
During his childhood years he was a member of St. Peter A.M.E Church in Bonneau. He attended services at St. James A.M.E church in Newark, NJ.
After his tour of duty in the military, Leon met the love of his life, Evelyn Jeter, andthey were married on December 19th , 1965. To this union they became the proud
parents of 5 children.
Leon was employed by Avis Car Rental in Linden, NJ for many years. After resigning from his job, he began employment at University of Medicine and
Dentistry (UMDNJ) in Newark, NJ where he remained for 20 years and retired in 2014.
Leon was a quiet man with a good sense of humor. He enjoyed family vacations, entertaining, spending time with family and friends and discussing sporting activities. Because of his mild manner and willingness to help others, he attracted many friends.
Leon Solomon is preceded in death by his mother and father, Leon and Elvira Solomon, his Son Leonard, Daughter Keisha and Brother St. Julian (Top) Solomon.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife Evelyn, two sons;
Reginald and Cory (Marisa) and one daughter; Kia all of Scotch Plains, NJ; 10 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren. 2 sisters, Edna M. Moore of Newark, NJ
and Mildred Bell of Hillside, NJ., 1 sister-in-law Sharon (David) Johnson of Tennessee, an aunt-in-law Mildred Franklin of Colonia, NJ also a host of nieces,
nephews, cousins and friends.Also to cherish his memory are extended family, Giesla Box, The Irvin Family, The Smith Family and Cynthia (Bishop Clarence) Fordham.
