Carrie Bell Phillips Slater was born on February 10, 1930 in Statesboro Georgia to the late Tom Phillips Sr. and Patient Phillips.
Carrie was a longtime member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Plainfield. Where she served on the Usher board, missionary and was a member for the choir. She was known for saying "Make it Plain" in church. She was employed at Burroughs Electronics before she left to do what she loved to do (cooking and taking care of her family).
Carrie Bell loved her grandchildren dearly, so much that she opened her home to each of them.
Carrie Bell Slater departed this life on January 23, 2017. She predeceased by her husband Abraham Slater Jr., a son Thomas Slater, two sisters Daisy Bell Norman and Ruthie Mae Coleman, a brother Tom Phillips Jr.
Carrie Bell Slater leaves to cherish and honor her memory one son Abraham Slater IV, a sister Betty Jean Richards of Florida. One daughter in law Sandra Slater of Edison. Eight grandchildren, Yolandis Alston, Abraham Slater IIII, Cory( Adrienne) Slater, Adriena Townsend, Sonya Alston, Thomas Townsend, Chevonne Townsend all of Plainfield NJ. Eighteen great grandchildren. And 10 great great grandchildren also host of nieces and nephews.
