Anthony Williams, age 49 of Newark, New Jersey entered into eternal rest on September 7, 2010. Anthony was born in Hemingway, South Carolina on August 8, 1961 to Rosa Williams and James Lee Johnson. As a child he resided in Philadelphia and then moved to Newark where he attended Science High School. Anthony played football and ran track, he was very athletically inclined. Anthony graduated from Science High in 1979 and immediately enlisted in the US Coast Guard. Anthony had a prestigious career, going from Sub Seaman to Senior Chief Food Services Specialist (FCSC). Anthony retired from the US Coast Guard after 30 years of service in October 2010. At which time he received one of most prestigious awards that could be given. Only 13 other people in the history of the US Coast Guard every received this honor, which was signed by the President Barak Obama. During his Military career Tony earned numerous gold, silver and bronze stars. Coast Guard Merit Team Commendation, Coast Guard Pistol Marksman Ribbon, Coast Guard Specialized Service Ops Ribbon, and the list goes on and on. Tony loved his career and worked hard to achieve his Military status. More than his lengthily, career, he loved his boys. He was always happiest when he was with them. He enjoyed going with them to sporting events and hanging out whenever possible. Tony enjoyed going out and listing to live entertainment. His hobbies were coin collecting and model trains. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his two sons: Anthony Williams Jr. and Andrews J. Williams, both of Bremerton, WA. His loving mother Rosa Williams of Newark, NJ, father James L. Johnson of Elizabeth, NJ, brother Walter Williams (Marie) of Newark, NJ. His beloved grandmother Katherine Baskins of Philadelphia, PA, nephew Raheem Williams of Irvington, NJ his Uncle Walter Baskins, Philadelphia, PA and a host of cousins, family and friends.
